Jennifer C. Fischer-Mueller, Ed.D.

Jennifer C. Fischer-Mueller is currently the Superintendent of Schools in Canton, MA, and has served in this position since July 2016. Dr. Fischer-Mueller is a passionate educational leader with an unwavering pledge and obligation to social justice, as expressed in the collaborative creation of the Canton Public Schools’ Strategic Framework. With a focus on educational equity, Dr. Fischer-Mueller leads the district in identifying unconscious and implicit biases and the impact they have on students, families, and staff. This commitment to educational equity has been at the core of her service to children and the community throughout her time as a teacher and an administrator. Prior to becoming the Superintendent of Canton, Dr. Fischer-Mueller helped lead the Public Schools of Brookline, MA from 2002 – 2016 as Deputy Superintendent for Teaching and Learning. Her former administrative positions have included Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Professional Development, Amherst, NH and Dean of Faculty, Souhegan High School, Amherst, NH. For a total of thirteen years, Dr. Fischer-Mueller taught science at Souhegan High School, Amherst, NH; Hollis/Brookline High School, Hollis, NH; and Spaulding Junior High School, Rochester, NH. As a teacher, she received a variety of awards and achievements, including the Tandy Technology Excellence in Science Teaching Award and the honor of CitiBank National Faculty. Dr. Fischer-Mueller holds a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in mathematics and a Masters of Arts in Teaching (biology) from the University of New Hampshire, along with a Doctorate of Education (science and math), from the University of Massachusetts/Lowell.
