David Bernstein
Board Member
David Bernstein is a lifelong Boston resident, except for a 3 year stint in the Peace Corps in Brazil and four years at college. In his public sector career he was an Associate Director of the Boston Community Schools Program, the Budget Director and then Deputy Superintendent, Management Operations, of the Boston Public Schools and Chief Financial Officer (Director of Administration and Finance) at the Massachusetts Port Authority (MASSPORT). In his private sector career, he was a Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Support at Teradyne, a Vice President at Thermedics Detection (a Thermo Electron Company), and for many years President, CEO, and now Chairman of the Board of Trexel, Inc., a technology company specializing in providing supercritical fluid based manufacturing processes to the global plastics industry for production of sustainable products.
He has a BA and an MBA from Harvard and is a graduate of Boston Latin School. His hobbies include Tennis, Travel, and foreign languages. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, Hebrew, and French. He is married to Donna Sorgi, graduate of UNC and of Northeastern Law School.
They live part time in Boston and part time in Eastham on Cape Cod.
